But what I took away from the show wasn't the sales - it was the wonderful feeling of community I get around knitters. Many of them had stories of how and when they discovered Grace's Cases and how much they enjoyed them. One told a story of how she hates clutter and how much relief she felt once she got her needles all nicely tucked away in her first case.
And I love how everyone comes together and how that makes things happen. For example, a friend told me several years ago about someone switching from quilting to knitting and that she was destashing all of her fabrics. Well, I couldn't (and didn't!) resist THAT.
Yes, those are six of the very large reusable totes stuffed to overflowing with fabrics! At this show not only did I have several items made from these fabrics including a special order, but the original owner of the fabrics came in just to say hello and I got to show her more things we had created. Oh, and the special order came out stunning if I do say so myself!
Just as we were wrapping up for the day and starting to pack, a group of wonderful ladies came in. It turns out they were some of my very first customers! Behind the scenes they had been telling friends and store owners about our products, and unbeknownst to me they arranged for my first wholesale account. It was wonderful hearing their stories and finally meeting face-to-face.
I couldn't have asked for a better day.
